Off We Go!

If you read my last post you know that Hector and I are really psyched to get on the road, so today we took off despite kind of a cool misty day. It was only about 55 degrees when we left, but I had my little fleece coat on and Biz made a cozy bed in the bottom of the basket so it wasn’t too bad. We went all the way to Franklin, MA before we took a break and stopped for a romp in someone’s field. This is the town where Biz’s really good friend Judi Hansjon lives, but she works in Boston, which is really far away, and has to get up at like 4:00 in the morning to get to work on time. We turned on to something called the Trunkline Trail, but after a few miles we got back on the main road and rolled into Continue reading...

The Royal Wedding

Since Biz’s mother was born and raised in Wales, Biz got us up very early this morning so we could watch the royal wedding. Being full of British blood, she was way into it! Calvin and I both noticed that the Queen didn’t bring along any of her dogs. What’s with that? I know she has a couple of corgis that would have added a very regal canine touch to the whole thing. Calvin thought the best part of the show was the parade. He started howling when the soldiers marched by with those tall black hats. I think they are made out of bear fur. Hector should buy one. They are much cooler than the bike helmet he wears.

I know I have already written a few pieces for my blog, but I think it is time to formerly introduce you to the rest of my family before the actual ride begins. Hi! Aloha! Namaste! Good Day! Cheers! Bon Jour! Ciao! You humans have tons of ways to say hello. For us dogs, we just say woof, so WOOF to everyone out there reading my blog. My name is Billlie. I am a female Jack Russell Terrier who lives in Westwood, Massachusetts and I’m riding a bike to a farm in Pennsylvania to raise money for a charity that my friend Hector started. I am going to write all about the people I meet, the places I go and the interesting things that happen to me along the way. Before I start however, I want to introduce you to my family. First, the humans: “Hector” is the father. His real name is David, but he has had the nickname Hector since he was a little kid. Lots of people just call him Hec. He is going to do all the pedalling while I help with the navigation. “Bizzy” is the mother. Her real name is Elizabeth, but everyone calls her Biz. She hands out more dog treats Continue reading...

“Look at That”

Hector and I went for a ride yesterday. We didn’t go too far because it was late in the day and we didn’t want to get caught in the dark. We just rode around different neighborhoods and because it was so nice out (about 60 degrees), there were tons of kids playing in the streets. They were all really friendly and you can’t believe how many times we hear someone say, “Hey, look at that. There is a dog in the front of that guy’s bike!” Continue reading...

Training Ride

Hector says the temperature on Sunday is going to hit the mid 60s. We are so fired up about starting the trip that I’m sure he is going to have me in the basket for a good 5 hour ride. This will be the longest day we have had so far. I’m packing at least a dozen Milk Bones!

Hi, My name is Billie. I am a little 4 year old Jack Russell Terrier who is going to ride a bike from Boston, MA to Gettysburg, PA. My friend Hector (he is a human) is going to do all the pedaling and I will help with navigation from my basket on the front of the bike. Keep checking in here to read my blog. I’ll tell you all about the adventures that Hector and I encounter as we wheel our way through the countryside. What a cool trip this is going to be!
